From SEO Confusion to Page 1: A Wedding Photographer Case Study
After 13 years as a wedding photographer in Seattle, Becca Jones of B. Jones Photography had already experienced what it felt like to rank well on Google.
Back in the early days of SEO, blogging every wedding worked pretty well. Every time she featured a venue, she would start booking weddings there. Her content strategy was simple and effective. Things were easy.
…then SEO changed.
The Problem
All of sudden, what worked before no longer worked. Conversations around keyword cannibalization, content structure, and shifting search behavior left Becca questioning everything she had previously done successfully.
Like many wedding pros, Becca found herself spending hours trying to keep up with SEO changes while running a wedding photography business and shooting on-site every weekend.
Here’s how she recalls this time in her business:
“I felt like I was throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. There was so much conflicting information, and I couldn’t tell what was actually making an impact.”
As rankings began to decline, she knew she needed a more strategic approach.

Establishing an SEO Foundation
When Becca signed up for our SEO Fix service, she was ready to get her SEO set up once and for all.
Because Seattle is one of the most competitive wedding photography markets in the country, we identified strategic keyword opportunities not only for Seattle itself, but also for surrounding areas that could help expand her local visibility.
In addition to optimizing her pages for those keywords, we also did some technical cleanup throughout the site to improve structure, organization, and overall search-friendliness.
We wanted Google to not just trust her website, but love it.
What stood out most to Becca about the SEO Fix was how personalized it felt:
“The experience was incredibly thorough and personalized. The team even walked me through back-end pages on my site and asked thoughtful questions about whether they were still serving my business. It didn’t feel transactional at all — it felt like they genuinely cared about my success and wanted to help my rankings improve.”
Instead of trying to figure out technical SEO alone, she was able to move forward knowing the foundation had been built following our Wedding SEO Framework, an approach that has worked for wedding pros to rank for the long-term.
Building a Content Strategy
After we put her SEO foundation in place, Becca was able to shift her focus toward her personalized content strategy. In the SEO Fix, her SEO Associate had provided custom content ideas based on the blogging strategies in Wedding SEO Bootcamp.
Rather than continuing to blog every wedding like she had in the past (which clearly wasn’t working anymore), she began approaching content more intentionally.
Using the strategies she learned, she learned how to research keywords and focus on building stronger local authority signals.
The Results
Today, Becca ranks for more than 3,000 keywords on Google and has booked multiple clients through AI search on ChatGPT. (Yes, couples are asking ChatGPT who to hire!)

Her homepage now ranks on Page 1 of Google for multiple high-volume photographer keywords, including “wedding photographers Seattle WA” and all of the keywords we optimized for on her website.

And in the last 12 months, her website has seen nearly 59,000 organic visitors from Google alone.

She also shared that new blog posts created using her updated strategy regularly rank well within a month of publishing.
“Every time I create a new blog post using these strategies, I’m rising to the top page within a month and pretty much hanging out there.”

One of the reasons I think Becca’s story is so meaningful is because it reflects what so many wedding pros are experiencing right now.
Some strategies (like blogging every wedding or session) that worked in 2018 don’t work as effectively today, and AI is disrupting the whole online landscape as we know it. Trying to piece together what matters now for SEO from dozens of blogs and videos can become overwhelming.
What this experience shows is that successful wedding photographer SEO today is not about endlessly creating content or trying every new trend.
It’s about:
- building a strong SEO foundation,
- understanding how to structure content strategically,
- creating relevant and local content over time,
- and continuing to show Google and AI tools that you are an expert in your market.
Having the right technical and strategic foundation made all the difference. And with continued implementation and consistency, it completely changed the trajectory of Becca’s SEO.
If your SEO strategy used to work but no longer feels effective, you are absolutely not alone. But with the right strategy and support, it is possible to rebuild momentum and start seeing results again. Start revamping your SEO strategy with the SEO Fix.
