Pixieset SEO: How to Optimize Your Pixieset Website

It’s not often that a brand-new website platform takes off, but Pixieset absolutely has. What started as a gallery delivery system for photographers has quickly grown into a full website platform — and lately, I’ve been hearing the question again and again: “What about Pixieset SEO?”

As an SEO professional who works exclusively with wedding pros and photographers, I’ve been blown away by the number of requests we’re getting for Pixieset. As always, I’ve been testing Pixieset’s tools and learning where the opportunities (and limitations) are.

The good news: Pixieset has all of the SEO settings you need, and yes, it can rank on Google and AI search engines.

But to actually rank, you need to get the optimization right.  I’d love to be your SEO coach and guide you!  In this article, I’m sharing the basic Pixieset SEO steps you need to get started (and how I can help you take it to the next level).

One-Time SEO Setup for Pixieset Websites

Before you dive into page optimizations, make sure your site’s foundation is set up correctly. These one-time Pixieset SEO setup steps give Google the right signals about your business.

To find Pixieset’s SEO settings, go into your site editor and navigate to the left-hand menu. For sitewide SEO, click the Settings gear at the top and select SEO Manager. Then, follow these instructions.

Pixieset SEO Manager under Settings

Step 1: Check your site visibility

Inside the SEO Manager, confirm your site is set to “online” and visible to search engines (look for the green checkmark). This small setting makes the difference between being discoverable or invisible. If this is not checked, you can toggle it on at the bottom of the “Global” tab.

Step 2: Set your global SEO settings

Next, set your site title and description. For the title, enter your business name exactly as you use it everywhere else. This is not the place to cram in extra keywords.Your site description is your homepage’s meta description. Aim for one to two sentences that naturally include your main keyword, like “Austin wedding photographer.”

Step 3: Optimize your homepage settings

In the Page SEO settings (Pages → SEO Manager), start by toggling the “Use Site Title for Homepage” setting off. Instead, you’ll want to set up an optimized SEO title for the homepage so it isn’t just your business name.

How to set up Pixieset's settings for SEO

Let’s look at how to update your homepage title and description so they’re descriptive and keyword-friendly.

For the title, add your most important keyword since Pixieset will automatically add your site title/business name to the end (unless you’ve toggled the “Append Site Title” option off — see my screenshot above for preferred settings). For the description, feel free to reuse the site description you wrote earlier.

Step 4: Upload a Favicon

Add a small square version of your logo as a favicon (Design → Logo & Branding → Favicon). This shows up in browser tabs and search results.  It gives your brand a polished, professional look.

Step 5: Set up redirects (if needed)

If you need to change page URLs during your site setup (or any time after), make sure to set up a redirect! Use the Redirects feature in Pixieset’s SEO Manager to link the old URL to the new URL, and choose “Permanent redirect” to preserve SEO value.

Once you’ve checked off these steps, you are ready to hit Publish and let all of your updates go live!

Pixieset SEO: Optimizing a single page

Once your site-wide setup is complete, the next step is making sure individual pages are optimized correctly in Pixieset. I recommend starting with your homepage, then moving to other important pages on your website (About, Services, etc.).

Find the SEO settings

For any page, click the three dots next to the page name in the left-hand menu. Select “Settings” and scroll down to find the SEO-specific fields. This is where you’ll control how the page appears in search results.

You can also find SEO settings for all pages under the “Pages” tab in the sitewide SEO Manager.

Write a unique title and description

Don’t leave Pixieset’s default title (which often just repeats your business name). Write a custom page title that clearly describes the page. Keep it concise, and know that Pixieset will add your business name at the end if you’ve left that option on.

Then, add a 1–2 sentence description of the page’s content in the Description box. This acts as the meta description and is what searchers may see in Google results. Keep it natural, useful, and aligned with the purpose of the page.

Use keywords in headings and text

Work the page’s focus keyword into at least one heading and mention it naturally in the page text. No need to repeat it excessively. Remember: Clarity is better than clutter!

Use on-page headings wisely

Inside the page editor, make sure your main keyword heading is set as “Heading 1” and that subheadings are H2 or H3. Pixieset doesn’t always label headings by default, so check that your structure makes sense for readers and search engines.

Keep URLs clean

Pixieset automatically creates simple URL slugs like /about or /services. Leave them that way! I don’t recommend stuffing extra keywords into your main page URLs. Use the “Page URL” setting if you need to shorten or clean up a slug.

Pixieset SEO: Optimizing a blog post

Blogging on Pixieset is a great way to add fresh content to your site and target the topics your ideal couples are searching for. Whether you’re sharing a real wedding, an advice article, or an inspiration post, these steps will help you optimize your blog content in Pixieset itself.

Format blog content clearly

Break your post into scannable sections with headings and short paragraphs. Pixieset allows you to add text blocks, so use them to create a natural flow of introduction, body, and conclusion. Avoid putting all your text into one large block with no formatting, as search engines (and readers) prefer structure.

Optimize images before uploading

Resize your images before adding them to a blog post so they load quickly. A width of around 1600–1800 pixels is usually plenty. Save them as JPEGs for a balance of quality and file size. Then, rename each file with a short, descriptive name before uploading (e.g., outdoor-ceremony-sunset.jpg).

Add alt text to key images

When inserting images into your post, use the Pixieset editor to add descriptive alt text. You can do this by clicking on the image, hovering over the thumbnail on the left panel, and clicking “Alt text.”

Focus on your “hero” images — the ones that best represent the content of the post. Aim for short, natural descriptions of what’s shown in the photo, not keyword stuffing.

Customize blog post SEO settings

Each Pixieset blog post has its own SEO settings. Make sure to:

  • Write a short post description (1–2 sentences that summarize the content).
  • Adjust the URL slug so it’s simple, clean, and focused on the main keyword of the post.
  • Upload a strong cover image and social sharing image so your post looks great when shared or linked.

Be thoughtful with tags

Pixieset lets you add tags to posts, but they don’t directly boost SEO. Instead, use tags sparingly to group related posts for your readers (e.g., “outdoor weddings” or “engagement sessions”). Avoid treating them like hashtags or keyword lists.

Getting your Pixieset site SEO-ready doesn’t have to be a tech headache. A few smart tweaks go a long way toward helping couples actually find your beautiful work.
